Allotment Diary June 11th 2014 – Weed Membrane, Strawberries And More

The allotment is doing well and I am clearing the space between the beds. Today I will put down a weed membrane between two of the beds ready for some bark to separate the beds and make them more usable.

The pumpkin patch is almost clear – just need to move a pile of weeds and then it is ready for use.

The strawberries unfortunately have been decimated by weeds and many of the plants have been crowded out and killed by the long grass. However, there is still some hope and some strawberries in there … it’s time to start building the planters and getting the plants off the ground where they can flourish safely!

Allotment Diary – 8th June 2014 – There Be Soil On That There Allotment

Well after a lot of hard graft we are starting to see soil and get things planted! Thanks for a volunteer and a friend there is a large area now cleared and down to bare soil. It’s looking good and hopefully in the next day or two I can get my pumpkins in there.

Today I planted some runner beans and French dwarf beans so I’m excited to see those come up.

There is still more space to clear but you will see that it is coming together and it will not be long before it is all fully planted and looking fantastic!
