About

I’ve set this site up to help fellow allotment owners get to grips with owning an allotment. When you first see a weed covered patch of dirt it is hard to realise the potential that is there. In a few months time it could be producing delicious, healthy, home grown food, but it does require work!

Once you have your allotment prepared you can work to just maintain it, which can be done in as little as 20-30 minutes a day, meaning it’s very easy to keep on top of the work at your allotment, once you are on top of it!

Busy times of the year are spring when you are preparing the soil and planting and autumn when you are tidying up from the years growth. Summer and winter tend to be a lot quieter, unless you have a hot summer and are busy watering your allotment regularly.

Allotments are fun and enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone. It’s great for kids (mine love it) and they learn some useful skills and get some much needed outdoor time.

Feel free to ask questions, share your tips and advice and join in the fun!
